Every day, Amos McGee takes the #5 bus to visit and take care of the animals at the zoo. He cares for each animal individually, and engages in enjoyable activities and games with them to serve their needs. One day, Amos wakes up with sniffles and a cough and can’t make the journey over to the zoo. The animals at the zoo miss him, so they take Amos’s normal route reversed on the #5 bus. Roles reverse and friends reciprocate love and care.

This beautiful picture book, a Caldecott award winner, tells about friendship, kindness, and the power of our actions to make a difference in others’ lives.
